日々の修理で革という素材を取り扱う中、どうしても使い切れない部分があります。
型を取った後の切れ端や革屑といった、通常は捨ててしまう端材です。
それを捨てずに活かす。
作品として新しい”生命”を吹き込む。
坂庭では森悦子先生が拓かれた技術を継承させる為、
革の端材を活かした創作「革盆栽」の作品展示を行っています。
数ある革を用いた芸術作品の中、
歴史ある日本の盆栽の繊細さを革で表現しようと試みる革盆栽。
鉢に宿ったもう一つの奥深い世界観をお楽しみください。
We use leather materials in our repair business,
but there are some parts that inevitably go to waste.
Scraps, shavings, and scrapings are materials that would normally be thrown away.
We do not throw them away, but make use of them.
We breathe new “life” into them as works of art.
Sakaniwa exhibits “kawa Bonsai,” an art form that utilizes leather scraps,
in order to pass on the technique developed by Master Etsuko Mori.
There are various works of art using leather,
but only leather bonsai expresses the delicacy of the historic Japanese bonsai in leather.
